Hope Deferred

Neglect may be the worst kind of abuse. The implicit lie is that there is absolutely nothing of value in the person being neglected. What does not change is the desire of the neglected to please. The heart goes on wanting to please as a matter of validation, often trying to prove itself to the very person who has made it convinced that it is nothing substantive, has nothing to offer, is in fact, nothing.
Those who have the heart that finally resigns to this falsehood, loose identity.
That is why it’s crucial to bring to light the stories we tell ourselves, because they are the narration that determines the course of our lives. And it is important to share our stories so that we know that, first of all, we are not alone and second, that our story is worth sharing.
